Solar Power Installation
Many of San Diego’s residents are turning to solar power as an affordable, green, and secure way of generating their own power year round. Solar power installation may seem like a daunting prospect, but Christian Roofing makes the process clear, straightforward, and cost effective. We have over two decades of experience in roofing, and have partnered with the best solar power providers in the market to provide our clients an outstanding installation process.
Get Started with a Site Visit
The first step in any solar power installation project is a site visit from a roofing contractor or engineer. They will measure the site, inspect the roof for damages, and work with you to discuss your power generation needs. They’ll survey any nearby tall trees or buildings, note down the seasonal weather changes in your area, and evaluate how your current electrical system will integrate with solar power. In addition, they’ll check if the site is a retail or commercial site, which way the roof faces, the height of the structure, and the current roofing material. This first step is the key to planning a successful solar power installation and cannot be rushed at any cost. Christian Roofing uses a comprehensive checklist of considerations that ensures no details are missed, and that approximate costs and energy-generation opportunities are properly quoted. Once the site is deemed appropriate for solar power, the next step is putting together a detailed quote and timeline.
Our Quoting and Planning Process
As with any home renovation, solar power installation requires planning and paperwork. Our team will draft sketches and work through different energy production formulas to inform the details of the installation process. Once the site and approach are confirmed, out team at Christian Roofing will then analyze the costs of different materials and installation methods. Building height, the time of year, the type of roofing, and the photovoltaic system being used all influence the total cost of the job. In addition, factors like needed roof repairs and electrical reconfiguration must be considered to generate an accurate quote. Next, our team will create a project plan, order materials, and schedule additional on-site installation dates. Most importantly, we will work with you and any other contractors involved to obtain the necessary permits and plan the appropriate safety measures.
The Solar Power Installation Process
Once the planning and paperwork are complete, materials have been ordered, and permits have been obtained, it’s time for our team to install your new solar power system. This process requires special skills and considerations. The solar installation technician will first inspect and prep the roof with racking and safety equipment. Then, the team will install the new electrical wiring. Next, PV panels will be securely mounted to the roof (or whichever outdoor surface you’ve chosen). All connections and mountings are then reviewed in a detailed inspection. Throughout this process, the installation manager will be referring to the project plan, to ensure no considerations are overlooked. Finally, the system will need to undergo a city inspection, to make sure that the installation was conducted properly and in line with standard electrical practices. Once your solar power installation is officially approved, you’ll get the green light and be on your way to generating your own power.
